The problem

The answers already exist. UW publishes how each community college course transfers. But a student has to look up every course on their transcript one at a time, keep their own tally, and still guess whether a course without a listed match will count.

For a full transcript that is hours of cross-referencing across tabs, and the official answer only comes later, from an advisor or after admission.

Who it's for

A Washington community college student planning a transfer to UW Seattle, transcript in hand.

Every course that doesn't transfer can mean another quarter of tuition and a later graduation. They need to know early, while they can still pick different classes.

UW Equivalency Guide

Does well: Official and free. Lists how courses from each Washington community and technical college map to UW credit.

The gap: One college and one course at a time. The student cross-references their own transcript by hand, and the guide notes its contents are subject to change.

Transferology

Does well: A shared network where participating schools publish reviewed course equivalencies, including the University of Washington.

The gap: A separate account, and it only knows courses a school has already reviewed. It shows matches, not a planning summary for UW requirements.

Asking an advisor

Does well: The most trusted answer. UW's Transfer Center, opened in fall 2025, offers drop-in advising for transfer students.

The gap: Human time is limited, so a full transcript review means waiting. The routine lookups crowd out the questions that really need a person.

The solution

The equivalency data already exists. The slow, error-prone part is reading a transcript against it, course by course, so that is the part to automate.

Upload a transcript as a PDF, an image, or pasted text. Claude Vision reads every course, then each one is matched against 157 verified Bellevue College to UW equivalencies and sorted into direct matches, semantic matches, elective credit, and courses an advisor should review. The report applies UW's 90 credit transfer cap and exports as a PDF, with a drafted email for the courses that need a human.

Read

Claude Vision turns a PDF, photo, or pasted transcript into structured course data.

Match

Exact matches come from 157 verified equivalencies; Claude compares descriptions for the rest and flags anything uncertain.

Act

Download the report as a PDF for the advising appointment, and send an AI written email that asks the advisor about exactly the courses that still need a person.

AI written advisor email

One click writes the email to the transfer advisor from the evaluation itself: who the student is, what already transfers, and the specific courses that need a decision, with why each one is in question.

Downloadable PDF report

The whole evaluation as a clean PDF: credits attempted, credits transferring under the 90 credit cap, and every course with its UW equivalent and match type, ready to bring to an advising appointment.

The verified equivalency data covers Bellevue College to UW. Other colleges fall back to semantic matching and advisor review flags.
